Side-Fic 360: The Feast

Rated TV-14 (DLSV)

Moroha: Don't forget to turn on some lights in the room and sit as far from the monitor as you can.

Maya: Happy Turkey Day!

Narrator: In New York City's fight against crime, the dedicated detectives who pursue the most vicious criminals are members of an elite unit known as ACME Crime Net.

[Neo-DEM HQ, Thursday, November 28th, 11:22am]

[Westcott confronts a group of his lesser Demonoids]

Westcott: Listen up. I didn't recall you from your overseas duties just to get your chips ripped off by the Spirit Soldiers or any of those ACME Crime Net superhero teams. All efforts to capture the Spirit Soldiers have failed, and we've gained nothing and lost five generals. All of you will be given an upgrade and will compliment Nervadrone's remaining Demonoids and our Bandersnatch.

[His Demonoids nod, then set off for Nervadrone's lab; ZIEG approaches]

ZIEG: Sir, the twins sent a message last night that the Itsuka family is arriving in Manhattan later today. They overheard Kotori Itsuka saying it's for her grandparents' anniversary and Thanksgiving dinner.

Westcott: As long as the warehouse is heavily guarded, there's no point in abducting them. But we can lure out Spirit Soldier Red. Gold is sure to come for his sister. Nothing like driving their family to despair during their visit. And I happen to know the perfect Demonoid for the job. [snickers]

[132 Madison Street, 12:01pm]

[Tables are set for a Thanksgiving feast; Shido and Kotori put the food on the primary table; the Exceeds enter the warehouse; they hang up their coats]

Shido: Hey, Tor. How was the parade?

Tor: Pretty chilly, but worth watching in person.

Tomoe: Wow! Isn't this place a beauty?!

Miyabi: And look at all that food!

Shido: It's gonna be more than just a Thanksgiving feast. We're also gonna celebrate Grandma and Grandpa's 50th anniversary.

Kotori: And pretty much the whole family's gonna be here.

[The rest of Shido's group enters with trays of dessert and hors d'oveures]

Tohka: Oh, you Exceeds are just in time. Just about everything is ready in preparation for Shido and Kotori's family.

Lilith: With the lot of us here, it makes sense to have all this food.

[Moroha's group returns with more food]

Moroha: And it just doesn't stop.

Shido: Hey, Moroha. Crowded today, eh?

Moroha: Surprisingly, no. Anyway, how much longer before your family gets here?

Kotori: Mom and Dad are already on their way. They flew in from Miami, where they were working before. Our grandparents are flying in from Kansai, and other relatives-- Okinawa.

Tohka: And once everyone is here, everyone's gonna perform something special. A little dinner show here at the warehouse.

Shido: Yeah, and Kotori wrote a poem for Grandma Kiko and Grandpa Yoji.

Kotori: [nervously] Uh,... yeah. Right. [turns everyone's attention to the food] Anyway, look what we've got for the feast already.

Shido: Aside from the essentials like turkey and stuffing, we're also having fried rice, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, smothered chicken, hors d'oveures, salads, cooked and buttered string beans, baklava, beef stroganoff, corn bread, ham, chicken Kiev, chicken noodle soup, and steamed veggies.

Kurumi: And four bowls of potato salad. I made two, Kotori made one, Satsuki and Sophie made one. I don't know how much more potato salad we can take.

Kotori: I'm with you, Kurumi. Plus, Mom's bringing her delicious sashimi, and Dad-- His famous sushi. And for dessert, we have so many kinds of pie. Pumpkin, apple, lemon meringue, banana cream, peach, cherry, blueberry, peanut butter, pecan, butterscotch, and sweet potato. Grandma and Grandpa said they're bringing some pies, too.

[The Chipmunks and the Chipettes come out of the game room]

Alvin: Whoa! Check out the spread!

Brittany: And look at those pies!

Jeanette: You guys really knocked it out of the park this year!

Simon: This is bound to be one heck of a Thanksgiving feast.

Theodore: I know. I'm not sure if my metabolism can take it.

Eleanor: I know the feeling, Theodore.

[There is a knock at the door]

Shizuno: I'll get that.

[She walks up to the door and looks through the keyhole]

Shizuno: Who is it?

Haruko: Haruko and Tatsuo Itsuka. We're here to see our kids.

Shizuno: Come on in!

[She opens the door, revealing Kotori's parents: Haruko and Tatsuo Itsuka, carrying bags]

Haruko: Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

[Shido and Kotori approach their parents with hugs all around]

Kotori: I'm glad you could make it, Mom.

Haruko: Kotori. Shido.

Shido: Hey, Mom. Dad.

Tatsuo: It's great to see you, son.

[He notices baby Chiyo and Kazumi in their playpen]

Tatsuo: Are those my grandchildren?

Shido: That's right. Mom, Dad, I'd like you to meet Chiyo, the daughter I had with Origami, and Kazumi, the daughter I had with Kurumi. Girls, say hi to Grandma and Grandpa.

[Haruko holds up Chiyo; Tatsuo holds up Kazumi; they hug the babies]

Haruko: Tatsuo, so young, and already, we're grandparents.

Tatsuo: They're so beautiful, just like their mothers.

[Mana approaches]

Mana: Haruko.

Haruko: Oh, Mana.

[They embrace]

Haruko: My old friend.

Mana: How was the flight?

Haruko: It was a bit turbulent, but short and sweet nonetheless.

Satsuki: Old friend? Wait, do Mana and Mrs. Itsuka know each other?

Shido: They went to school together.

[Moroha's group cringes a bit]

Kotori: Long story.

Haruko: Anyway, we brought pre-cooked sushi and sashimi for the feast.

[She and Tatsuo extract said food from their bags and hand them to Tohka]

Tohka: Thanks. [places the food in empty chafing dishes] I've always loved your sashimi, Mrs. Itsuka.

[There is another knock at the door]

Jeanette: I'll get that.

[She walks up to the door and peers through the peephole]

Jeanette: I think I see an elderly couple.

Kotori: That's Grandma and Grandpa! Open it, Jeanette!

[Jeanette opens the door, and in come Kiko and Yoji Itsuka (each carrying a pie box); Shido, Kotori, and their parents walk up to them]

Kiko: Tatsuo, my baby.

Tatsuo: Hi, Mom.

[He and his mother embrace; Tatsuo turns to Yoji and embraces him]

Tatsuo: Happy anniversary, Dad.

Yoji: Happy Thanksgiving, son.

[He and Kiko embrace Haruko, then Shido and Kotori]

Kiko: Look at you sweetie-pies.

Yoji: Shido, still lean and mean.

Shido: Thanks, Grandpa.

Kiko: Kotori, look at you! Almost a real woman!

Kotori: Aw, Grandma.

Shido: You know, Kotori wrote a poem just for you that she's gonna read aloud later on.

Yoji: Get outta town! Really?

Kotori: [nervously] Bro...

Kiko: Oh, I can't wait to hear it. Oh, and look what we brought for the feast.

[She and her husband open the pie boxes, revealing...]

Shido and Kotori: Lemon meringue pie!

Kotori: Thank you!

Tatsuo: [takes the pies] Here, let me help you with those.

Kiko: Oh, thanks, Tatsuo. Now, can I see my great-grandchildren?

Shido: Sure, Grandma. C'mon over here.

[He leads his grandparents to the playpen; Origami and Kurumi take their daughters out of the playpen]

Shido: Origami, Kurumi, these are my grandparents. Grandma, Grandpa, these are the mothers of your great-grandkids.

Origami: Hi.

Kurumi: Pleasure.

Yoji: Ditto. Lucky you, Shido.

Origami: Chiyo, say hi to your great-grandparents.

Kurumi: You, too, Kazumi.

[Enamored, Kiko and Yoji eye the babies and smile at them, who smile back]

Kiko: It's definitely worth flying all the way here from Kansai.

Mana: [approaches the grandparents] Oh, you must be my brother's adoptive grandparents.

Shido: Grandma, Grandpa, this is Mana, my real sister.

Yoji: Oh, I've heard a lot about you from your brother's letters.

Kiko: [shakes hands with Mana] It's great to finally meet you, Mana.

Mana: Pleasure's all mine, Grandma Kiko. Grandpa Yoji. And I see you've met my little nieces.

Kiko: Mm-hmm. They almost remind me of when I met Kotori after she was born. [to Chiyo and Kazumi] Just look at you little angels. Surrounded not only by friends, but your big family.

Kotori: Grandma, I don't think they understand the meaning of a family.

Tatsuo: Then why don't we tell 'em? Chiyo, Kazumi, we are all your family. Your relatives. Your dad, your moms, your grandparents, your great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, etc. And you're sisters to each other.

Tohka: And in about seven months, you'll have two more siblings.

Miku: That's right. Auntie Tohka and Auntie Miku are pregnant.

Haruko: No doubt about that. We all belong to each other.

Kotori: [sings] We are the children
of this family.
We are the branches
of a bountiful tree.
Growing together
up to the sun.
Born from each other,
we are one.

Kiko: I am a grandma.
Tatsuo: I am her son.
Kotori: I am her grandchild.
All three: We are one.
Kotori: This is my grandpa.
Kiko: A husband to me.
Yoji: And we are all branches
of this bountiful tree.

Kotori: I am a sister.
Shido: I'm her big bro.
I may be adopted,...
Haruko: But what do we know?
I am a mother.
Tatsuo: She's married to me.
All six: And we are all branches
of this bountiful tree.

All of Shido's group: We are the children
of this family.
We are the branches
of a bountiful tree.
Growing together
up to the sun.
Born from each other,
we are one.

Alvin: Wow. That was beautiful. Where'd you hear that song?

Kotori: From an old episode of that popular puppet show. I thought it was pretty catchy.

All three Chipmunks: Don't we know it.

[There is another knock at the door]

Simon: Oh! [walks up to the door] Must be more guests. [peeks through the hole] Who's there?

Man: [behind door] Souji Itsuka. My big brother Tatsuo said he was here.

Kotori: Let him in, Simon.

[Simon opens the door, and in come Souji Itsuka, his wife Meiko, 15-year-old son Takuma, and 10-year-old daughter Reona (who is dressed in a yukata); they approach the rest of the family with hugs and kisses all around]

Tatsuo: Hey, Souji!

Souji: How are ya, big bro?

Tatsuo: Just dandy.

Meiko: Hi, Haru.

Haruko: Happy Thanksgiving, Meiko.

Shido: Takuma, you're a sight for sore eyes.

Takuma: You haven't changed at all, cous.

Kotori: Happy Thanksgiving, little Reona.

Reona: You, too, Cousin Kotori.

Kotori: You look cute in that yukata.

Reona: Oh, thanks. I'm gonna do a Japanese dance for Grandma and Grandpa.

Kotori: Oh. That's nice.

Takuma: What are you gonna do, Kotori?

Haruko: She's gonna read a poem later.

Reona: [notices the babies in the playpen] Cousin Shido, are these your babies?

Shido: They sure are, kiddo. Chiyo, Kazumi, meet cousin Takuma and cousin Reona, and Uncle Souji and Aunt Meiko.

Tatsuo: Uncle Souji's your grandpa's brother. [to Souji] Remember the song Kotori taught you?

Souji: Do I ever? Music!

[The song plays again]

Souji: [sings] I am his brother.
Tatsuo: He's my only one.
Souji: These are my children.
Souji and Meiko: Our daughter and son.
Takuma and Reona: We're brother and sister.
Kotori: They're cousins to me. (Shido: And me.)
All Itsukas: And we are all branches
of this bountiful tree.

All of Shido's group and family: We are the children
of this family.
We are the branches
of a bountiful tree.
Growing together
up to the sun.
Born from each other,
we are one.
We are one!

Shido: Well, Chiyo, Kazumi, now you know your family.

[Both of his daughters smile]

Kotori: Everyone, I'd like you to meet my little cousins Takuma and Reona, my auntie Meiko, my uncle Souji, Grandma Kiko, and Grandpa Souji.

[The rest of the gang exchanges handshakes with the Itsuka relatives]

Tor: Ladies, we're in for the Thanksgiving of a lifetime.

All female Exceeds: Mm-hmm.

Meiko: I hope you don't mind, but we brought some potato salad. [hands Kotori a bowl of potato salad]

Kotori: [laughs] Thanks, Auntie. You know, we got four bowls already, but I'm sure everyone will love your potato salad.

[Meiko laughs]

[Another knock is heard at the door]

Alvin: [approaches the door] Oh, more guests. [peers through the peephole] Oh! Come on in.

[He opens the door, letting Olivia Allen and David Seville; Olivia is carrying a tray; Dave is carrying a box]

Alvin: Hi, Dave. Hey, Liv.

Dave: Happy Thanksgiving, Alvin. I brought another pumpkin pie.

Olivia: And I brought some pre-fried shrimp.

Alvin: Thanks. Come on in and meet everyone.

[Dave and Olivia enter the warehouse just as Eris' group enters]

Kio: Sorry we're late, Alvin. There was a long line at the store.

Antonia: You know how it is this time of year.

Eris: Anyway, we brought some yakiniku and potato salad.

Alvin: Thanks, guys. Come on in.

[The others enter before Alvin shuts the door]

Alvin: By the way, where's Yuya?

Aoi: At his apartment spending Thanksgiving with his parents, as well as Zuzu and Gong.

Manami: [shows a photo on her iPhone Yuya sent her] They even invited their friends: Gloria, Grace, Sora, Tate, Allie, and Shay. Even Declan Akaba brought his baby sister Riley with him.

Dave: Boys, you didn't tell me there'd be so many people here.

Simon: Sorry, Dave. We got so excited, we couldn't help it.

Theodore: But boy, do we have a crowd.

Olivia: All these people, and this warehouse isn't even half-full.

Brittany: I reckon this is gonna be our biggest Thanksgiving yet.

Jeanette and Eleanor: Mm-hmm.

Haruko: Another bowl of potato salad?

Eris: Yes. Sorry, Mrs. Itsuka. But I see you already have a large variety.

Haruko: [laughs] Don't we know.

Dave: Sorry Marsha and her sons couldn't come, but they're spending Thanksgiving with her mom in Fresno.

Tomoe: Oh, we understand, Mr. Seville.

[Bambi enters with two pie boxes]

Alvin: Hiya, Bambi!

Bambi: Happy Thanksgiving, everybody. Sorry I'm a little late. [hands Kotori the pies] I got held up at the bakery, and you know how New York traffic gets on Thanksgiving. [hangs up her coat, then notices the whole crowd] Whoa. Not once since I became manager and landlord of this warehouse did I ever see such an influx of people inside!

Kotori: Sorry, Miss Apple. I never got the chance to tell you my whole family was coming to celebrate my grandparents' anniversary on Thanksgiving. Mom, Dad, this is Bambi Apple. She's the warehouse landlord, and our hostess for this big feast.

Haruko: [shakes hands with Bambi] Pleasure, Miss Apple.

Bambi: Likewise, Mrs. Itsuka. Okay, everyone. While we wait for the food to completely heat up, we've got plenty of performances to kill time. And to kick things off, the girls in Moroha's group would like to perform a little counting conga based on a catchy song from our favorite puppet show. Ladies?

[10 of the girls of Moroha's group take their positions in the center of the warehouse]

Maya: Kick it!

[She and the other nine girls dance and sing to the tune of a Sesame Street song]

[Maya, Shizuno, and Satsuki are the first three to conga]

Maya: Let's count in Japanese.
Start moving your feet.
We're gonna start counting girls
dancing to the beat.

Shizuno: Ichi.
Satsuki: Nii.
Maya: San.
Shizuno: Ichi.
Satsuki: Nii.
Maya: San.
All three: We're three girls dancing.
In Japanese, that's san.

All three: We're three girls dancing.
In Japanese, that's san.

[Momochi, Sophie, and Tokiko join in]

Shizuno: We kept on dancing,
never once getting bored.
Satsuki: And soon, we were joined
by three girls more.

Shizuno: Ichi.
Satsuki: Nii.
Maya: San.
Momochi: Shi.
Sophie: Go.
Tokiko: Roku.
All six: We're six girls dancing.
In Japanese, that's roku.
Shizuno: Ichi.
Satsuki: Nii.
Maya: San.
Momochi: Shi.
Sophie: Go.
Tokiko: Roku.
All six: We're six girls dancing.
In Japanese, that's roku.

[Elena, Katya, Yuri, and Mari also join in]

Shizuno, Satsuki, and Maya: Four girls saw us,
and they joined in, too.
Momochi, Sophie, and Tokiko: That means that now we've got
more counting to do.

Shizuno: Ichi.
Satsuki: Nii.
Maya: San.
Momochi: Shi.
Sophie: Go.
Tokiko: Roku.
Elena: Nana.
Katya: Hachi.
Yuri: Kyuu.
Mari: And one more makes jyuu.

All 10: Mōichido yatte kudasai.
Do it once again.
Ichi kara jyuu made kazoemasu.
Count from 1 to 10.

Ichi, nii, san,
shi, go, roku,
nana, hachi, kyuu,
and one more makes jyuu.

Shizuno: Spanish!

All 10 girls: Uno, dos, tres,
cuatro, cinco, seis,
siete, ocho, nueve,
and one more makes diez.

Maya: Japanese!

All 10 girls: Ichi, nii, san,
shi, go, roku,
nana, hachi, kyuu,
and one more...
makes jyuu!

Jyuu!

[They pose]

[Everyone else applauds; the 10 girls bow]

Nelly: That was wonderful, girls!

Moroha: See? A little practice makes perfect.

Bambi: Indeedy-do. Okay, guys. Up next is Moroha Haimura's duet with Maya Shimon.

[Moroha and Maya sit on chairs in front of the food]

Moroha: It's from an old kids show from Canada, and we thought it was really beautiful.

Maya: It's about taking good care of our planet and everything on it. Music, please?

[Alvin pushes a button, and a light tune is heard as Moroha and Maya sing]

Moroha and Maya: Take care of the Earth.

Treat it like a friend.
Take care of the Earth.
Don't let your friendship end.
Take care of the Earth.
It's the only way.
Take care of the Earth...
to share a better day.

Maya: Take care of all the rivers.
Keep them fresh and clean.
Take care of the air
and everything between.
Moroha: We all must stop pollution
of water, grounds, and sky.
We can make a plan
if we only try.

Moroha and Maya: Take care of the Earth.

Treat it like a friend.
Take care of the Earth.
Don't let your friendship end.
Take care of the Earth.
It's the only way.
Take care of the Earth...
to share a better day.

Take care of the Earth. (Shizuno: Take care of the Earth.)

Treat it like a friend. (Shizuno: Treat it like a friend.)
Take care of the Earth. (Satsuki: Take care of the Earth.)
Don't let your friendship end. (Satsuki: Don't let your friendship end.)
Take care of the Earth. (Momochi: Take care of the Earth.)
It's the only way. (Sophie: It's the only way.)
Take care of the Earth... (Tokiko: Take care of the Earth...)
All: ...to share a better day.

[Everyone else applauds]

[Later, Tor's group performs a song by Kevin Roth]

Tor: Who would've guessed?
Who would've known
That I'd never be alone?
Sharin' the times
with good friends of mine
and feelin' like home.
Tomoe: What do you know
just when I'm feelin' low?
You're there to make me smile.
I've been looking to find
some good friends of mine
It's been a long while.

Tor: Thanks for giving...
All of Tor's group: All you have to share.
Tor: Thanks for giving me...
All of Tor's group: The feeling that you care.
Tor: Thanks for giving...
All of Tor's group: All the treasure that I've found.
And I wish it were Thanksgiving all year round.

Julie: Who would've guessed?
Who would've known
that these feelings deep inside...
Miyabi: ...
could last all year long
and keep going strong
with you there by my side?
Imari: And the giving is better than receiving sometimes,
and makes the heart feel free.
Lilith: Just knowing your friendship is all of the thanks
I'll ever need.

Tor: Yes, I wish it were Thanksgiving all year round.

[Everyone else applauds]

[Later, Tatsuo gives a speech]

Tatsuo: Mom, Dad, having been married for 50 long years, you've done so much for everyone. Your children, your grandchildren, your in-laws, your nieces, your nephews, etc. And now, your great-grandchildren. You've given us so much love, so much encouragement, and so much support. And as a token of how grateful we are to the two of you, I'd like for my family to take part in the next performance. Kotori, would you like to start by reading your poem?

[Kotori is nervous, despite the encouragement of her family]

Kotori: Well, I'd love to, Dad, but... I've been dying to see Reona's dance.

Reona: You mean it?

Kotori: Cross my heart, cous. Dance to your heart's content.

Reona: Thank you.

[She takes to the center of the warehouse; the Chipmunks bring out a set of taiko drums from the storage room]

Alvin: Anyone here know taiko?

Meiko: As a matter of fact, Alvin, Takuma does.

Souji: Yeah, go on, son.

Takuma: If you say so.

[He walks up to one of the drums; Alvin and Theodore take the other two; Simon hands each of them the sticks]

Takuma: Ready, fellas?

Alvin and Theodore: [nod] Hai!

Takuma: Ichi, nii,...

Takuma, Alvin and Theodore: So-re!

[All three of them start banging the taiko drums as Reona performs a Japanese dance to the beat over the course of three minutes; Simon plays a tune on a Japanese shakuhachi flute]

Satsuki: Look at 'em go.

Sophie: Kotori, you didn't tell me your cousin was such a pro at this.

Kotori: Her maternal grandmother used to be a shrine maiden. She'd dance all the time.

Tokiko: And how does Takuma rock out those taiko drums?

Kotori: He learned it in school before Reona was born.

[At the end of the performance, Reona poses gracefully as the three boys finish drumming with a flourish; everyone else applauds; Reona, Simon, and the three drummers take a bow]

Shido: That was wonderful!

Kotori: You guys were amazing!

Reona: Thank you very much.

Takuma: It's all in the wrists. So, Kotori, how 'bout that poem?

Kotori: Um,... I'd love to, but Reona was so beautiful in her performance, I wanna do it with her.

Reona: Oh, by all means!

[Kotori joins her cousin]

Takuma: 'Kay, guys. Once more. Ichi, nii,...

Takuma, Alvin and Theodore: So-re!

[The band plays again; Kotori joins Reona in her dance; Shido and Mana head to the doorway of their group's room]

Mana: Big Brother, I kinda get the feeling Kotori doesn't wanna read us her poem.

Shido: I got that feeling myself. But why?

[A bit later, the two girls are worn out from the dance; Alvin, Theodore, and Takuma are worn out from the drumming]

Alvin: That was some performance.

Theodore: Tell me about it. For a moment, I thought my wrists were gonna give out.

Takuma: Ditto. But at least we put on one heck of a show.

Kotori: I never knew this dance took so much energy.

Reona: To be honest, neither did I.

Simon: Okay, everyone! It's chow time!

[The whole gang cheers]

Bambi: But before we do that, let's all pray.

[They all begin praying]

Bambi: Heavenly Father, thank you for gathering us all today for this blessed feast, and for all that you've done for us throughout the year. Please bless our families and friends, and let us forever cherish those we lost along the way, including even our greatest rivals. And thank you for Shido's little angels: Chiyo and Kazumi. And please bless us in all our future battles, and we ask in your name that you gather us all together for Thanksgiving in the years to come. Amen.

Everyone else: Amen.

[The gang breaks into song]

Bambi: [sings] We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing.
He chastens and hastens his will to make known.

The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.
Sing praises to his name: He forgets not his own.

Sophie: Come, ye thankful people, come.
Raise the song of harvest home.
All is safely gathered in.
Ere the winter storms begin.
Shizuno: God our Maker, doth provide
for our wants to be supplied...
Come to God's own temple, come.
Raise the song of harvest home.

Chipmunks and Chipettes: We gather together.
We gather together.
We gather together.
All: To raise the song of harvest home.

Moroha: Now let's eat!

[They all pass plates around and put food on them, then sit around the tables to eat]

[Back at Neo-DEM HQ, Westcott confronts a red eagle-themed Demonoid]

Westcott: Eagledrone, your raid in Singapore was a complete failure, thanks to the Akane Academy team. You were lucky I bailed you out before you were destroyed in your last battle.

Eagledrone: Tell me what to do next, sire.

Westcott: Take Bandersnatch to the warehouse later today, and launch an attack to lure Spirit Soldier Red into our trap.

Eagledrone: What makes you think she'll be alone?

Westcott: I've been observing the feast, and she's hesitant to read her grandparents a poem she wrote. Once she's the only one left, she's likely to seek privacy. [stares grimly at his Demonoid] Must you question your master?

Eagledrone: [intimidated] Uh, no, sir. If that's how you feel, I'll gladly take on this task.

Westcott: Wait for my signal.

Eagledrone: [nods] Sire.

[Back at the warehouse, Shido, Tor, and Moroha dance to Tequila by The Champs; the gang claps to it]

Alvin: Shake your moneymakers, fellas!

Tatsuo: That's my boy!

[After a few minutes of dancing, the three men pose with a flourish]

All: TEQUILA!!!

[The gang cheers and applauds]

Bambi: Nice dance, boys! I betcha Pee-Wee Herman would be proud!

Tor: Us bros gotta stick together.

[All three men bump fists and return to their seats]

Shido: Nothing like a good dance to work off all that food we ate.

Tor: Yeah, and can you imagine all that potato salad?

Tomoe: Who bought or made the potato salad?

[Kotori, Kurumi, Eris, Satsuki, Sophie, and Meiko raise their hands]

Tatsuo: I think now's as good a time as any for Haruko and I to do a big musical dance number for my parents.

Haruko: Music, Alvin?

[Alvin turns on his bluetooth speaker and plays Cheek to Cheek by Frank Sinatra on his iPhone; Haruko and Tatsuo dance to it]

Haruko: It's one of the family's favorite American songs.

Tatsuo: Mom and Dad used to dance to this all the time when they were our age.

Yoji: Hey, can we dance?

Kiko: For old time's sake?

Tatsuo: Oh, by all means!

[Yoji and Kiko take to the dance floor and join their son and daughter-in-law in the dance; the rest of the gang claps to the rhythm]

[Later, Kio's group and a group of Assistroids do a Greek dance; after a minute, the personal Assistroids bring out a stack of plaster plates; Kio's group each grabs a plate]

Maya: What's with the plates?

Moroha: From what I learned, they're gonna smash those plates.

Antonia: Don't worry, folks. We had these delivered specifically for this occasion. It's a Greek tradition.

Kio: Antonia's family used to do this all the time.

Antonia: Ready, babe?

Kio: Let's do it.

All of Kio's group: OPA!!

[They toss the plates to the floor, smashing them]

Alvin: Hey, let me try that!

[He grabs a plate]

Alvin: [smashes the plate to the floor] OPA!

Simon, Theodore, and the Chipettes: [each smash a plate to the floor] OPA!

Dave: Isn't that dangerous?

Bambi: Relax, Davey. It's supposed to be a celebration.

[Later, Olivia finishes playing a didgeridoo; the gang applauds]

Olivia: Thank you.

[She returns to her seat]

Satsuki: What kind of instrument is that, Miss Allen?

Olivia: It's a didgeridoo, a wind instrument developed by the Aboriginals of Australia, where I was born.

Shizuno: We'll be back in a jiffy, Miss Apple.

Satsuki: We need to get changed for our act.

[The duo heads for their guest room]

Bambi: Very well, ladies. Now, who's up for the next act?

[The Chipmunks take the center]

Bambi: Ah, the Chipmunks!

Alvin: We'd like to do an introductory number for Shido and Kotori's family. Kick it, boys!

[He and his brothers sing and dance to their theme song]

All three Chipmunks: Watch out, 'cause here we come.
It's been a while,
but we're back with style.
So get set to have some fun.
We'll bring you action
and satisfaction.

We're the Chipmunks!
C-H-I-P-M-U-N-K!
We're the Chipmunks!
Guaranteed to brighten your day!

When you feel like a laugh,
give us a call.
We'll give you our all.
And if you feel like a song,
tune in to us and
sing right along.

We're the Chipmunks!
Coming on stronger than ever before!
We're the Chipmunks!
Alvin!
Simon!
Theodore!

Do... do... do-do-do-do!
Do... do... do-do-do-do!

[They pose; the gang applauds; the Chipmunks take a bow; Shizuno sticks her head out the doorway to her room]

Shizuno: Could you kill a few more minutes with another number? We're not quite done yet.

Alvin: No problem, Shizuno. [to the others] Any requests?

Simon: We only have enough time for one, though.

Souji: How 'bout your Christmas song?

Theodore: It's perfect, Alvin! Christmas is less than a month away, after all.

Alvin: I don't see why not. Dave, care to kick things off?

Dave: Why not?

[The Chipmunk Song is heard in the background]

Dave: All right, you Chipmunks. Ready to sing your song?

Simon: I'll say we are!

Theodore: Yeah! Let's sing it now!

Dave: Okay, Simon?

Simon: Okay!

Dave: Okay, Theodore?

Theodore: Okay!

Dave: Alvin?

[Alvin is not beside his brothers]

Dave: Alvin?

[Moroha turns Dave's attention to Alvin taking a quick sip of Pepsi at the table]

Alvin: Can't sing with a dry mouth.

Dave: ALVIN!!

Alvin: [rushes back to his place] Okay!

All three Chipmunks: Christmas, Christmas time is near.
Time for toys and time for cheer.
We've been good, but we can't last.
Hurry, Christmas, hurry fast.
Want a plane that loops the loop.
Alvin: Me, I want a hula hoop.
All three Chipmunks: We can hardly stand the wait.
Please, Christmas, don't be late.

[They dance]

Tor: They never lost it, those three.

Miyabi: But did Mr. Seville really have to yell?

Brittany: That's just his nature.

Dave: Okay, fellas. Get ready for the big finish. Simon, that was very good.

Simon: Naturally.

Dave: You, too, Theodore.

[Theodore laughs]

Dave: Alvin, no offense, but you were a little flat. Watch it.

[Alvin is still dancing]

Dave: Uh, Alvin?

Shido: Let me, Dave. ALVIN!!

Alvin: [stops dancing] Okay!

[Dave shrugs]

All three Chipmunks: Want a plane that loops the loop.
Alvin: I still want a hula hoop.
All three Chipmunks: We can hardly stand the wait.
Please, Christmas, don't be late.
We can hardly stand the wait.
Please, Christmas, don't be late.

[The gang applauds; the Chipmunks bow and return to their seats]

Dave: Very good, boys!

Alvin: Thanks, Dave. [turns to Shido] As for you, Shido, that yell-- Nice pipes, but you'll never top Dave.

Shido: Aw, shucks, Alvin.

Bambi: Now, Shizuno and Satsuki are still getting changed, so does anyone have any magic to show us?

Tohka: As a matter of fact, I have one myself. [holds up a deck of cards and approaches the center of the warehouse] Shido taught me this on one of our dates. It's an easy card trick, but to be honest, I had a hard time learning. Yoshino?

[Yoshino approaches her]

(NOTE: NO camera tricks!)

Tohka: [spreads out the cards in her hand] Pick one card.

Yoshino: [takes a card] This one.

Tohka: Okay. Now, show it to everyone, but don't show it to me.

[She turns around while Yoshino shows everyone else the card she took: Ace of Hearts; Tohka turns back around with the cards stacked up again]

Tohka: Back into the deck it goes.

[Yoshino slides the card into the middle of the deck; Tohka shifts the deck and her hands behind her back]

Tohka: Now, I'm going to try and find it without even looking. Don't anybody peek. All righty. Oh! Found it!

[She spreads the cards out; all are face up, except for one; Tohka holds up said card (face-down to the gang)]

Tohka: What was your card?

Yoshino: Ace of Hearts.

Tohka: [flips the card over: Ace of Hearts] That's the one!

[The gang applauds; Tohka takes a bow; she and Yoshino return to their seats]

Bambi: Okay. That was quite a performance. I wonder how she did that? Anyway, Shizuno, Satsuki, you girls ready?

Shizuno and Satsuki: Yes, ma'am!

Bambi: Lights, please.

[The lights dim]

Bambi: Ladies and gentlemen, Shizuno Urushibara and Satsuki Ranjou and their harem dance to Night & Day.

[Night & Day by Chicago is heard in the background]

[The spotlight shines on two figures rising from a pair of sheets; the figures lower the sheets, revealing themselves as Shizuno and Satsuki dressed in harem outfits (Shizuno in red, Satsuki in pink); the two girls slowly dance]

[As the two girls dance, Alvin turns to Moroha]

Alvin: How'd those two learn to dance like that so gracefully?

Moroha: Ever since we started dating, they'd been practicing so they'd lull me to sleep with those moves.

Alvin: Oh...

[Satsuki and Shizuno continue dancing; after a few minutes, they pose gracefully; everyone else applauds; Satsuki and Shizuno bow and return to their seats]

[As time goes by, more acts are performed, as Kotori looks on at the poem she wrote with looks of doubt in her eyes, then heads upstairs]

[A bit later, Bambi introduces the next act]

Bambi: For our next act, folks, we have Shiori Usako, or Nelly, and her juggling act!

[The gang applauds as Nelly prepares to juggle]

Meiko: Wow, she's so talented. [looks around] Uh, where's Kotori?

Haruko: She's the only one left, and everyone's dying to hear her poem.

Reona: I don't think Kotori wants to read her poem, Auntie.

Haruko: But why?

Shido: I'd better check on her.

[He heads upstairs]

[On the roof, Kotori looks at her poem]

Kotori: After all that performing, this poem won't mean diddly-squat.

[Suddenly, Eagledrone and an army of Bandersnatch appear before her]

Eagledrone: Happy Turkey Day, Red!

Kotori: Demonoids!

Eagledrone: Attack her at once!

[Kotori stuffs her poem in her pocket, then whips out her Spirit Brace]

Kotori: Sephira, GO!

[She gets suited up]

Kotori: I'll teach you to mess with my Thanksgiving!

[She fights the Bandersnatch]

Eagledrone: What's the matter, kid? Too chicken to show your family your poem?

Kotori: That's none of your business!

Eagledrone: Anything involving you Spirit Soldiers is Master Westcott's business.

[Kotori shoots down Bandersnatch after Bandersnatch w/her pistol, then charges at Eagledrone, who charges at her; both get into a fight]

Kotori: I won't let you near my family!

Eagledrone: Oh, it's not your family I'm after.

[He punches Kotori in the gut, then flips her on her back]

Eagledrone: It's you!

[Kotori struggles to get back on her feet, but Eagledrone pins her to the ground with his right foot and laughs smugly]

Eagledrone: Wait'll your brother hears about how much courage you had in your last stand.

[Suddenly, Spirit Soldier Gold jumps in and strikes Eagledrone w/his Spirit Knuckles]

Shido: [runs up to Kotori] Are you all right?

Kotori: Big Brother,... I can explain.

Shido: We'll talk about it after we get this guy outta the way.

Eagledrone: If you can!

[Spirit Soldiers White, Blue, Fuchsia, and Violet enter the scene]

Kotori: Nice of you girls to show up. But where are the others?

Tohka: Standing by in case we need 'em.

Miku: But right now, let's cook this turkey!

Eagledrone: Turkey?! You dare compare me to your Thanksgiving bird?!

[Enraged, he flaps his wings, releasing sharp steel feathers upon the Spirit Soldiers, hitting them]

Eagledrone: You're gonna pay dearly for that insult, and those steel feathers are just the beginning!

Yoshino: We gotta get him off the roof before Westcott makes him grow.

Origami: This is going to require extra firepower.

Kotori: Then it's time for the Reiryoku Armor! Activate!

[She gets equipped with the Reiryoku Armor and cannon]

Shido: Let's combine our weapons!

[The six Spirit Soldiers form the Sephira Bazooka]

Spirit Soldiers: Sephira Bazooka!

Eagledrone: You ain't got the guts!

Kotori: We'll see!

[She and the other Spirit Soldiers whip out their Spirit Pistols; all firearms are aimed at Eagledrone]

Kotori: Ready!

Shido: Aim!

All six: FIRE!!

[All weapons fire massive blasts upon Eagledrone, who tries to shield himself with his wings, but the blasts knock him off the roof; Eagledrone screams as he falls to the ground; upon impact, he engulfs in an explosion; one of his chips flies out in pieces]

Kotori: One down and one to go.

[Suddenly, the Giga Beam appears from the sky and restores and enlarges Eagledrone]

Eagledrone: Spirit Soldiers, this will be your last Thanksgiving!

Kotori: Send in the Sephira Robo!

[The Sephira Robo flies into the scene and faces Eagledrone; the six Spirit Soldiers jump into the cockpit; the two giants fight]

Eagledrone: [laughs] There'll be no turkey for you when I'm done!

Kotori: I got a news flash for you! We've already had our turkey!

Eagledrone: Whatever! At least I'll finish you off before dessert!

[He grabs the Sephira Robo in a chokehold]

Eagledrone: I'm gonna rip you apart, voyager by voyager!

[Suddenly, the Sephira Racer charges into the scene and strikes Eagledrone w/its saber, causing him to drop the Sephira Robo]

Eagledrone: [turns to the Sephira Racer] The traitor!

[Cut to the Sephira Racer's cockpit w/Spirit Soldier Silver]

Mana: No way am I gonna let you ruin my family feast, Eagledrone! Oh, and I didn't come alone. [snaps her fingers]

[Outside, the Sephira Battle Jet flies into the scene and fires lasers at Eagledrone, hitting him]

[Cut to the Battle Jet's cockpit w/the other six Spirit Soldiers]

Kurumi: Figured you could use a little backup, Shido.

Nia: Hope you don't mind.

Mukuro: It just wouldn't be a happy Thanksgiving without you, Shido.

Kaguya: We're not gonna let this big bird bop you.

Yuzuru: Agreement. We'll fry him to a crisp like a turkey.

Natsumi: And we won't even need stuffing.

[Cut back to the Sephira Robo's cockpit]

Shido: Nice work, girls.

Kotori: Now let's bring 'em all together and fry this fowl!

[Split-screen to all three cockpits]

All 13 Spirit Soldiers: Sephira Max Robo, begin transformation!

[All three mecha combine to from the Sephira Max Robo; the Sephira Max Robo points its Sephira Max Lance at Eagledrone, then raises it to the sky]

Eagledrone: Huh?! Uh-oh!

Spirit Soldiers: Maximum Double Slash! FINAL ATTACK!!

[The Sephira Max Robo bisects Eagledrone with the sword end of its lance, then does the same with the spear end; Eagnedrone screams and splits in half, engulfing in a massive explosion]

Kotori: Termination complete! Sephira Squadron...!

All 13: Spirit Soldiers!

[They jump out of the cockpit and retroform; the Sephira Max Robo vanishes]

Tohka: That was some fight. I think I'm ready for dessert now.

Shido: You girls go ahead. Kotori and I need a little private convo.

Mana: Oh. No problem, Big Brother.

[She and the other girls head back downstairs, leaving Shido and Kotori upstairs]

Shido: Kotori, you don't wanna read your poem, do you?

Kotori: I didn't say I don't wanna read it.

Shido: But really, you don't?

Kotori: [sighs] No.

Shido: Why not?

Kotori: [takes her poem out of her pocket] I've been up late last night working on this poem, but with all those other performances you guys put on, my measly poem won't mean a thing to anyone.

Shido: Kotori, Grandma and Grandpa have been waiting all day to hear your poem, and they'll be thrilled when they do.

Kotori: I doubt it's good enough.

Shido: Trust me, it is. Now, I haven't heard it yet, but I know it is, because you wrote it, and that you're gonna read it. You're a good enough writer, so the poem has to be good enough. So what say you?

Kotori: [sighs] You're right, Big Brother. Let's go back.

[They hold hands and return downstairs]

Kotori: Sorry for the delay, everyone. Just needed a breath of fresh fall air. Anyway, I'm all set.

Bambi: Oh, wonderful. Ladies and gentlemen, before we sit down for dessert, here's our big finale, something well worth waiting for: Kotori Itsuka and her poem to her grandparents!

[The gang applauds; Kotori turns to everyone and reads]

Kotori: A haiku to Grandma Kiko and Grandpa Yoji, by Kotori Itsuka, their granddaughter. [clears her throat]

Grandparents,
loved by all,
friends and family.

[Everyone else is surprised; after a moment of silence, everyone applauds and gives Kotori a standing ovation]

Kotori: [laughs nervously] Thank you.

[She walks up to Kiko and Yoji, who embrace her]

Kiko: Kotori, that was beautiful! Thank you.

Yoji: That was the best haiku I've ever heard!

Shido: See, Kotori? I told you they'd like it.

Satsuki: All the other acts we performed-- They'll never do any better than a haiku you wrote for your grandparents.

Kiko: Everyone, Yoji and I wanna thank you for this great party.

Yoji: You all make us feel so proud of our children, our grandchildren, our great-grandchildren, and friends.

Kotori: Happy anniversary and happy Thanksgiving, Grandma and Grandpa.

[They go into song again]

Yoji: We are the children
of this family.
Kiko: We are the branches
of a bountiful tree.
Shido: Growing together
up to the sun.
Kotori: Born from each other,
we are one.

Everybody!

All: We are the children
of this family.
We are the branches
of a bountiful tree.
Growing together
up to the sun.
Born from each other,
we are one.

We are one!

Tohka: Okay, everyone! Who's up for dessert?!

[Everyone gets in line for pie]

Tor: Next time: Imari in Inwood.
