ACME Wheel - Episode 29

Rated TV-PG (CC)

Jonah: Ni hao, everybody! It's almost time for ACME Wheel!

Jester: Don't forget to watch in a brightly-lit room, and don't sit too close to the monitor. Or else.

Jonah: Or else? What?

[Jester pushes Jonah into the lake]

[Layla, Sora, Rosetta, Marion, and Brittany get out of a car and gives Jon a key who then puts it in to the jar and mixes them up]

Layla: You see what we put in?

Brittany: It's the key to this Volkswagen e-Golf Electric Car.

Sora: Only one of those five keys actually starts the car up.

Marion: This car can be in the garage of one of our players.

Rosetta: Today on....!

All: WHEEL...OF...FORTUNE!

[Applause]

Marion: The famous wheel is spinning your way towards thousand of dollars in cash! And now from the ACME Studios, here are the stars of our show, the funniest and outrageous raccoon who can date on girl raccoons, Freddie!

Freddie: [enters HQ] WOOT-WOOT!

Marion: And Jonathan Mann!

[Jon enters HQ]

Jon: Yes ma'am! Yes ma'am! Hello, everyone. Hope you all had a nice and wonderful Easter.

Freddie: Spending the weekend celebrating the resurrection of our lord.

Jon: Enjoying all the Easter Egg Hunts and having a wonderful brunch or dinner.

Freddie: I spent my entire Easter in Chucklewood. We had an Easter Egg Hunt against me, the boy and girl cubs. Everybody got the same number of eggs.

Jon: So that is declared a tie.

Freddie: Yep. But I had dinner at the boy cubs' cave and then we saw The Ten Commandments which is a tradition every Easter.

Jon: You bet. Okay, Freddie, how about we just get through a half hour of puzzles, cash, and car. And here's the lovely Maid Marion to introduce today's contestants.

[Now to the contestants]

Marion: I am not married to Robin Hood, Jon. [clears throat] Anyway, our first player enjoys baseball, fishing, and hunting. From Rochester, New York, meet Marty Cotori!

He enjoys reading comics and loves to play football. From Queens, say hello to Yano DuWon!

Her family is from Hong Kong and loves to write stories in Chinese and English. From Lower Manhattan, say hello to May Kurumi!

[Applause]

Jon: All right, contestants, welcome to the show. You know how to play the game?

Contestants: Yes.

Jon: Let me explain for those of you who may not know. Let's look at our wheel.

Jon: [spins the wheel] There’s hundreds of dollars in cash waiting to be won. You spin the wheel, guess a letter. If that letter’s in the puzzle, the money will be added to your bank. Guess a letter that's not in the puzzle, you lose your turn. If you solve the puzzle, the money is banked to your total. But be careful of those two black and white spaces. Lose a Turn – land on that, your turn is over automatically. And finally, the Bankrupt.

[Audience boos]

Jon: Land on that, all of the money in the round will be finito. Gone! Bye-bye. If you have no money and if the other player has money, we have a wedge called...

Brittany: POWER!

Jon: Thank you. Land on that wedge, guess the correct letter, and you can steal whatever money the player has in the round. And finally, we have Free Spin, if at anytime you lose your turn, you get a free one. We’ll explain more about that as we go along. And you can also win what. Layla?

Layla: A BRAND NEW CAR!

[Applause]

Jon: Now, if you win the game and end up solving the bonus puzzle, you will have a chance to win a brand new car. You can win up to three extra chances. All you have to do is land on the CAR wedge, guess a correct letter, solve the puzzle and you will win an extra chance. Up to four chances to win the car are at stake. The player who has the most money at the end of the game will go on to play the bonus round for a shot at up to 10x their winnings and the car!

[Applause]

Jon: Without further ado, let's get to our first puzzle. Freddie?

Freddie: The category is Phrase.

Jon: There is an apotrosphe in the puzzle. Brittany will show you that.

[DODECAHEDRON]

Jon: That was quite a long word. Sora, what is a dodecahedron?

Sora: In geometry, a dodecahedron is any polyhedron with twelve flat faces. The most familiar dodecahedron is the regular dodecahedron, which is a Platonic solid. There are also three regular star dodecahedra, which are constructed as stellations of the convex form. All of these have icosahedral symmetry, order 120.

[Back to HQ]

Jon: Thanks, Sora. May, you have won $2,300 in this round, combined with the $2,225 from earlier. You're gonna finish in second place with $4,525. Thank you for playing!

May: You're welcome.

Jon: Yano, you've finished in third place with $2,425. Spend that money wisely. But going to the Bonus Round is Marty with $5,100!

[Applause]

Jon: Come with me please!

[He and Marty go to the Bonus Round where Marion (holding a tray of envelopes) awaits]

Sora: Hi, Marty.

Jon: Okay, Marty. Sora has a tray of ten envelopes. Each of them containing a multiplier from a Double to a quadruple. Only one of those envelopes will increase your winnings by 10x. And more importantly, if you solve the bonus puzzle, you will have a one and four chance of winning the car. Let's first pick an envelope.

[Marty takes an envelope off the tray]

Jon: Okay. Let's work on this puzzle. Freddie?

Freddie: The category is Place.

[_ _ _ _ _ _]

Jon: R-S-T-L-N-E. Marion?

[_ _ _ _ _ T]

Jon: Well, only one letter to start. But do me a favor, give me three consonants and one vowel.

Marty: H-M-D-I.

Jon: Hmmmm.

[Marion remains steady]

[The audience groans]

[The timer is set at ten seconds]

Jon: Guess you have to stick with that one letter. But we are going to give you ten seconds to solve this puzzle. Studio audience, zip your lips please. He has to do this on his own. You have ten seconds. Good luck.

[As Marty remains silence]

Marty: I don't know.

[BUZZER!] (time's up!)

Jon: The right letters can give you more help. What was it?

[DUGOUT]

Jon: Dugout. Is what we're looking for. We are going to open the enveleope and see what would have happened. [opens the envelope to reveal] And you could have tripled your winnings. But you're not the loser on the show. You are a winner. You're leaving here with $5,100. Not bad at all.

Marty: Thank you.

Jon: You're welcome. Well, that's our show for today. Join us next time as we wrap up the season. For Freddie, Sora, Layla, Brittany, and Marion, This is Jonathan Mann saying keep on spinning and solving. And Freddie?

Freddie: Yes.

Jon: I really want a quiet night tonight. So I'll shut up.

[Freddie chuckles]

Jon: Bye for now!

[Applause]
