ACME Summer Movie #11

Rated TV-G (CC)

Hunter: The ACME Summer Movie!

[Keystone State Park, 8:30am]

[Freddie sleeps in the tent daydreaming about girls. Suddenly, he hears a sounds of a race car engines zooming by. Freddie wakes up and sees cars arriving at the park.]

Freddie: What on earth!? What's going on?

[Suddenly, he sees Jon driving a 1953 Connaught AL10 as he arrives at the campsite]

Freddie: Wow, Jon! That is quite a race-car.

Jon: It is, Freddie. This is a 1953 Connaught AL10. Now, Connaught was a Formula One and sports car constructor from the United Kingdom. Their cars participated in 18 Grands Prix, entering a total of 52 races with their A, B, and C Type Formula 2 and Formula 1 Grand Prix Cars. They achieved 1 podium and scored 17 championship points. The name Connaught is a pun on Continental Autos, the garage in Send, Surrey, which specialized in sales and repair of European sports cars such as Bugatti, and where the cars were built.

Freddie: You woke me up by surprise!

Jon: That's why today is the Laurel Highlands Grand Prix where hundreds of vintage race cars race around the park for a grand prize of a trophy.

Freddie: It's pretty much like the Grand Prix in Pittsburgh.

Jon: Yes. Today's ACME Summer Movie is about an extraordinary car. And it's decades before Buttons and Rusty's Adventure Machine...

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Starring Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes and Lionel Jefferies.  Based on Ian Fleming's children's novel. It not only drives but flies and floats as it leads Eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts who created the car, his two children and his lady friend, Truly Scrumptious, into a magical world of pirates, castles and endless adventure.

Freddie: Ian Fleming, the man whose famous for James Bond.

Jon: Yes. But did you know this film is produced by Albert R. Broccoli whose famous for producing the James Bond movies.

Freddie: I didn't know that.

Jon: Without further ado, you folks at home, keep the room brightly lit, don't stand too close to the screen and start your engines. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang starts now!
